About  SHISHU  VIDYAMANDIR

Ramakrishna Mission Shishu Vidyamandira, Lumdung  was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble MLA  Sri Mama Natung in presence of  Srimat Swami Divyanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha, Belur Math, Howrah on 11th September 2018.  Sri Gaurav Singh Rajawat ( IAS), Deputy Commissioner, East Kameng  was also present there and  participated in the Inaugural  Meeting. This Primary School was started at the instance of the earnest villagers of Lumdung and the District Education Department gracefully allowed Ramakrishna Mission to use a portion of the Govt. Secondary School, Lumdung.  The School started with Classes 1 & 2  with 40 students, boys and girls, in each class and 5 teachers under the governance of  a monastic Principal.  Essentially the School is following a CBSE pattern so as to be enabled to be affiliated to the CBSE Board in due course of time.  The State Government so far has not given any financial  support for this Primary School but there is a promise at their end. It was discussed and decided that this School should chiefly be meant for Tribal Students.  Only the wards of the Non-APST teachers and staff of this School will get chance to study here. This non-residential Primary School is chiefly meant for local children.  But as most of the guardians reside at Seppa, 25 km away from Lumdung, Ramakrishna Mission provides some transport service between the aforesaid two places in a limited way.

Apart from only academic pursuit the School targets to build up the students through physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual development by dint of its syllabi and the dedicated effort of the teaching and non-teaching staffs. For this, Cultural Competitions,  Sports,  Social Services,  Fine Arts and Crafts as well as Music  has been introduced from the very early stage of the students.  As the Mission has a target to start a  Secondary School on the Hilltop at Lumdung, maybe, in 2023,  the Primary School may or may not continue at the Lumdung Bustee.  However,  the entire project of starting a School anew on the hilltop is a novel project at the instance of the Mission Alumni of our Narottamnagar Center and local people who have admirably been conveying their willingness and  good wishes  for this new venture.

Dear All,

Greetings from the undersigned.

In Arunachal Pradesh  there had been three big centers of the Ramakrishna Mission :   at Itanagar, a multi-facility Hospital, one of the biggest one of the sort :   at Narottamnagar, Tirap  a Higher Secondary School with residential facility ;   at Aalo in West Siang  a Higher Secondary School, partially residential ;   over a period of five decades.  In 2017  another feather was added to the hat of RK Mission at Lumdung, East Kameng  for a Secondary School for which preparation of the Infra-structure is started  with partial assistance of the State Government.   There was a need of such a School run by the Mission on the West of Itanagar.  The Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas are performing excellently in entire Arunachal Pradesh.  They are our sister institution.  Another sister Institution,  the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission has been working at Khonsa in Tirap as well as at Dirang in West Kameng.

However,  Ramakrishna Mission Lumdung has started a Primary School at Lumdung inside the premises of the GSS Lumdung.  And this is an evidence of the eagerness of the local people to get their children a good education.  This eagerness and expectation was felt when 1050 Admission Forms were sold in 10 days in 2018 only for Class 1 and Class 2, before the commencement of the Primary School.  I congratulate  and extend my thanks to all the teachers and staff of the GHSS of Seppa and KVK Wesan  who participated to organize the initial Admission Test held on 23 June 2018 denying the nature’s hostile appearance on that very day.   After the Inauguration of the School at Lumdung,  the Monastic members and the Teaching staff of the school have taken upon their shoulders the responsibility of taking the institution ahead to put it on the spearhead of all other educational institutions in Seppa and around, though  it is a long way to go yet.

Thanks to the Guardians for their cooperation as per the norms and advice of the Mission School in all respect.  But there are many more factors in bringing their children up  for which the awareness of the Guardians have to be enhanced.  I believe that the local people do understand the  legacy of the advent of the Mission  in their own areas  and accordingly they ought to be very cautious about their responsibilities over and above other community culture in Arunachal Pradesh.

Looking earnestly forward to the blessings of Swami Vivekananda and Ma Sarada Devi and Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna for a very successful educational venture in this difficult terrain and challenging environment, I  do hope that the patronage and inspiration of all people concerned as well as the State Government will continue in future for the betterment of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
